VINEYARD, Sacramento County — The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors voted 5–0 on May 19, 2026 to approve a package of land-use actions for expansion of the Vineyard South Mine at 9307 Elder Creek Road.

The county’s official planning project record, PLNP2024-00037, identifies changes involving the mine’s use permit, reclamation plan, community plan, zoning and development agreement across four parcels.

What does the vote authorize?

The May 19 record reports approval after the Planning Commission recommended the package on May 11. Those approvals are significant local land-use decisions, but residents should distinguish them from the actual start of excavation, issuance of every operational permit or full completion of a reclamation plan.

Why neighbors may care

Mining proposals can raise concerns about truck circulation, noise, land restoration and the future reuse of affected land. Readers should consult the county’s final adopted conditions and environmental documentation rather than infer outcomes from a project title.

The online project database may still display a general administrative status of “pending” while separately recording the approval vote. The controlling legal records are the final decision documents, permits and any applicable subsequent actions.
