VINEYARD, Sacramento County — Sacramento County has placed a two-mile widening of Calvine Road between Power Inn Road and Elk Grove–Florin Road in its preconstruction planning program.

The Department of Transportation’s project directory describes a planned six-lane thoroughfare with improved bus stops, pedestrian crossings, bicycle detection at traffic signals, sidewalks, lighting and accessible curb ramps.

What is the actual timetable?

The county currently lists preliminary design and environmental review for 2026–2027, followed by right-of-way acquisition and final design in 2028 and a potential construction award and buildout in 2029. The timetable is subject to funding, environmental review, design and official approvals.

Do drivers face a six-lane road today?

No. The 2026 listing is a planned improvement, not proof that new lanes have opened. People planning a commute should follow existing road conditions, signs and official construction advisories.

The county describes the route as bordering the City of Elk Grove while affecting portions of the unincorporated Vineyard and South Sacramento communities. Road ownership and the exact project limits should be verified for address-specific questions.
